Getting to Know the World’s Greatest Composers: The Beatles

By Mike Venzia; Children’s Press; 1997; pp. 32

Review/Plot: Don’t judge this book by its size. Sure, it looks like Beatles 101 or Beatles Lite (and it is), but it is nifty introduction to the world’s best band EVER. The author focuses on the Fab Four’s early years and how they all met and formed the band, briefly alludes to how overhwelming the band’s fame became, and then the dissolution of the band. I, personally, would have liked more attention given to The Beatles’ songbook, but the book–in this case the paltry page count–will whet the interest for more Beatles. This book is one of a series that introduces young readers to the World’s Greatest Composers, including Beethoven, Mozart, Stravinsky, Duke Ellington, and others–also great reads.
